By the end of the week Katy and Cinco Ranch could both be Region III-5A champions. The Cougars will face Brazoswood, a 42-19 winner over Alief Taylor, at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rice.

The Tigers, who are in the Division II bracket, are making their eighth consecutive appearance in a regional final. They eased past La Porte in the semis for the second straight season, winning 37-3.

The Cougars, who are in the Division I bracket, are in a regional final for the first time after beating Beaumont West Brook 49-26 last week behind K.C. Nlemchi, who had 245 yards and three touchdowns rushing.

Nlemchi, a junior, now has 2,162 yards and 25 TDs rushing this season. They face Clear Springs, a 41-35 winner against Memorial, at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tully Stadium.
