Fans of mixed martial arts on the Big Island of Hawaii are anxiously awaiting the UFC 107 lightweight title main event between Hilo's BJ Penn and Diego "Nightmare" Sanchez on Saturday evening.

By 1:00 pm on Saturday, odds makers had champion Penn over Sanchez at -280.

The pay per view fight, being held in Memphis, Tennessee is expected to be seen around 7 pm Hawaii time. Loyal fans will no doubt pack the Penn Training and Fitness Center in The Prodigy's home town of Hilo to watch the fight, where a $5 donation to the BJ Penn Youth Foundation gets fans in the door.

Although the fans will be watching the bout in the very gym where the lightweight champion normally trains, BJ Penn has actually been training in San Clemente, California in recent weeks. Penn, whose regimen under Marv Marinovich was an apparent success in his victory over Kenny Florian in August, hopes the training will help him against the aggressive, tireless attack of Sanchez. Before leaving for the mainland to begin the training, Mayor Billy Kenoi declared BJ Penn Day on Hawaii Island in support of the Hilo native.

The two warriors will meet at 155 pounds, a weight where both man are dominant. Hawaii Tribune-Herald writer John Burnett reports that the 31 year old Penn has not lost a fight at 155 pounds in more than seven years. Meanwhile, the soon to be 29 year old Sanchez has never lost at 155 pounds.
