Late King of Pop Michael Jackson's long-time friend has dismissed rumours that he is the biological father of Prince Michael II, also called 'Blanket'.

Al Malnik, who also happens to be Blanket's godfather, has denied that he served as a sperm donor for the child, who was delivered by an unknown surrogate.

"It would be very interesting to realise that I didn't meet Blanket until he was two years old. So that wouldn't qualify as a rippling event I think. Of course I'm not the biological father," the Daily Star quoted Malnik as saying.

He also added that he would only continue to be a part of his godson's life "if it were court authorised or the Jackson family authorised it."

Lanky pretty Shruthi Hassan is already grabbing public attention with her talents and also for her filmy legacy. This Kamal Hassan’s apple of the eye has given her best to her Hindi flick, ‘Luck’. Amidst the reports of Katrina-Salman's split and reconsiling in the Bollywood rumour mills, Salman Khan's father noted writer Salim Khan has said that he does not know whether his son's eyes have seen Katrina Kaif as his ideal wife. Recently, Salim Khan has bought the distribution rights of film Kissan, which is being co-produced by his other son Sohail Khan.

You expect Kambakkht Ishq, his new outing, to transport you to ha-ha-land, given the smart-n-chic promos of the film. Kambakkht Ishq belongs to the same family of films which have wooed the masses, such as Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Welcome, Singh Is Kinng and Golmaal Returns. The prime motive is to entertain you for the next 2 hours, logic be damned.


Buzz up!Yet, Kambakkht Ishq is different because it depicts the battle of the sexes, a theme that's rarely depicted on the Hindi screen. The lingo is poles apart, so is the attitude. In fact, this is a modern take on relationships, with the two hours divided between laughter and emotions, frivolous and reality.


Let's get this straight. Kambakkht Ishq works in most parts thanks to the kind of star power and energy that the two actors pack in -- Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor. It would've been difficult to hold the film from falling apart had the two actors not been competent enough to carry off their respective parts. Also, the presence of Hollywood stars -- Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards -- the first on the Hindi screen, is an added bonus. 1 pe 2 ka offer; Bollywood stars ke saath Hollywood free!

The focus is on the entertainment quotient. There are moments when you laugh so uncontrollably that it gets embarrassing and there are times when you continue smiling, even during the most ordinary scenes. But Kambakkht Ishq dips in its second hour because you expect it to be as frivolous as the first hour, but it changes tracks and gets emotional. Things would've gone wrong had the end stumbled and fumbled, but it doesn't. The finale, in fact, takes the film back to the level that one expects from a film of this magnitude.

To sum up, Kambakkht Ishq offers you value for time and also, value for money. It offers loads of entertainment in those 2 + hours, loads of glamour in those 130 odd minutes, from start to end. Sure, there are blemishes, but they're trivial when you look at the larger picture. Kambakkht Ishq explores the relationship between two individuals who are as different as chalk and cheese. Viraj [Akshay Kumar] is a stuntman in Hollywood, who lives by the mantra 'women are only good for two things'. Simrita [Kareena Kapoor] is a firebrand who is more than able to stare down the most arrogant male with her caustic wit and sardonic tongue.

So what happens when the two people who hate each other the most meet at Simrita's best friend Kamini's [Amrita Arora] and Viraj's brother Lucky's [Aftab Shivdasani] wedding? A wedding that both Viraj and Simrita are violently opposed to and desperate to stop. Sparks fly... the battle of the sexes in on.

Director Sabbir Khan's motive is simple: Entertain for the next 2 hours. The entire first hour moves at a lightening speed, making you enjoy the war of words between Akshay and Kareena at regular intervals.

The first half abounds in terrific moments, but I'd like to single out at least three...

* One, the church wedding of Aftab and Amrita. When the battle lines are drawn.

* Two, the sequence at the operation table, when Akshay spots Kareena.

* Three, the interval point. The pendant connection. Howlarious sequences all!


The post-interval starts with a bang, with Akshay hearing the 'Om Mangalam' chant just about everywhere -- while sleeping, in the shower, in the rest room, even at an award function. The award function sequence is a double whammy. You get to watch Stallone and also the scene is superbly structured, executed and enacted.

Things are smooth sailing till the emotional angle comes up. The narrative dips in those 20 odd minutes. The mood suddenly shifts from laughter to sadness. The makers may argue that a twist in the tale is justified from the writing point of view, since the emotional track is vital for any love story, but the fact remains that one does miss the entertainment quotient here. In fact, the dip in the second hour erodes, to a large extent, the impression that the first half had built so magnificently.

Director Sabbir Khan picks up a theme that may catch you by complete surprise, but marinates it in entertainment, garnishes it well and presents it like never before. The review would be incomplete if we failed to highlight the grandiose look and the lavish production values thanks to the no-holds-barred expenses by producer Sajid Nadiadwala. Each frame looks ostentatious and glitzy.

Music is up to the mark, with three interesting tracks -- 'Om Mangalam' [RDB], 'Lakh Lakh' and 'Bebo' [Anu Malik]. Cinematography [Vikas Sivaraman] is magnificent, with the DoP doing complete justice to the production values. Kambakkht Ishq belongs to both, Akshay and Kareena. Akshay is dynamic this time. He received a lot of flak for Chandni Chowk To China and there was this nagging feeling that the negativity would spill over to Kambakkht Ishq. But Akshay is in terrific form here and delivers, without a shred of doubt, a bravura performance. If you loved him in Namastey London and Singh Is Kinng, you'd fall in love with Akki and his comic timing all over again this time.

Kareena left an indelible impression in Jab We Met and creates a similar impact, albeit in a different role. Her role has shades of 'Poo' in K3G, but the glam looks combined with that rare confidence takes this performance to dizzy heights. Clearly, Kareena is miles ahead of her contemporaries as far as talent goes and this film proves it yet again.

Aftab and Amrita are perfect for their parts. Vindu Singh supports well. Javed Jaffrey doesn't make a mark because the role has no connection with the main plot. Kirron Kher is getting typecast. Boman Irani is hilarious in that lone sequence. Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards are well integrated in the narrative.

On the whole, Kambakkht Ishqwill strike a chord with the youth and those who relish zany and madcap entertainers. The first half is tremendous, while the second half takes a dip, with the film picking up towards the climax. At the box-office, the film will see an earth-shattering opening weekend and a historic Week 1. It remains to be seen how this film fares in its second weekend/week, given the massive number of screens it has opened globally [2,000 +]. However, the timing is most appropriate [the viewer is thirsting for a biggie] and the hype is tremendous, which should prove very advantageous for the film.

In a bizarre and unfortunate case, a former surgery techinican Kristen Diane Parker has been accused of changing her own syringes with ones having a powerful drug thus risking the patients with a possibility of Hepatitis C.

Authorities say Parker admitted to changing out syringes containing a saline solution with ones filled with the painkiller Fentanyl. Parker injected herself with the drug, AP reports.

Kristen worked at Audubon Ambulatory Surgery Center in Colorado Springs and Rose Medical Center in Denver.

Crystal Defanti, a teacher from the Isabelle Jackson Elementary School, has accidentally given a personal sex tape to her fifth grade students - and parents are mortified.

Defanti wanted to give her students a DVD that rounded up memories from the school year when she unknowingly left scenes of a sex tape of herself on the video.

Video footage of Michael Jackson's last rehearsal before his death on June 25 has been released.

Clips of the singer preparing for his London O2 Arena residency have been published by the shows' promoter AEG Live.

Jackson's rehearsals took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where it is now rumoured a fan memorial will be taking place next Tuesday (July 7), although there is no details on the nature of any event planned.

Video of Michael Jackson's final rehearsal has been released, with the singer looking in relatively lithe form just two days before his death.

But it's not Jackson you want to know about. MusicRadar has been inundated with requests for information about his guitarist, who shares centre-stage in the rehearsal footage of They Don't Care About Us.

Who's Orianthi?

But who's the guitarist? She's called Orianthi, and here's what you need to know.

1. She was born in Adelaide, Australia, in January 1985.

2. Orianthi started playing piano at the age of three, moving to acoustic guitar at six, and soon after studying classical guitar.

3. At 11 she saw Carlos Santana play live and begged her parents for a PRS guitar of her own.

So in the review of his latest film, New York, which opened to decent but unspectacular numbers in America, Canada [Images] and the United Kingdom, she writes: 'The ultrabuff Mr Abraham, who has made a career of displaying his toned torso, here uses his body to show the privations that flesh is heir to.'

The film which combines a love story with the problems many innocent Muslims faced in the post 9/11 America, shows John "in a particularly powerful shot� curled into a tiny box-like cell that fills the movie frame.'

But John is surely no match to Irrfan Khan [Images].

The movie, which has been well reviewed in India, got a fairly decent review in The New York Times. Though the review faulted Khan for 'some crater size holes,' it also said the movie benefits from the performance of Irrfan, who plays a FBI agent.

The newspaper has been reviewing major Bollywood films since two years.

The production company Yash Raj Films which also distributed the film released it in over 900 screens worldwide.

The good opening for New York ends several months of draught at the desi box office scene in the lucrative foreign territories. Two weeks back, Vashu Bhagnani's Kal Kisne Dekha opened to a lukewarm response in India and abroad. It could not even gross $100,000 in North America and the UK.

Even if New York plummets by about 50 percent the next week as it happens in the case of many Hindi films, it could end its run with a healthy $2 million in North America, Europe, Australia [Images] and the Gulf countries.

The box office success of New York is notable since some people had wondered if a film dealing with 9/11 could resonate with the audiences so long after the horrific event. The doubters remembered Shoot At Sight, an English film depicting a post 9/11 world in the United Kingdom, which was a box office bomb about a year and half ago. Directed by Jag Mundhra, and starring Naseeruddin Shah [Images], Greta Scacchi [Images] and Om Puri [Images], the film was released mostly in theatres screening Hindi films.

New York, the second film directed by Kabir Khan [Images] after the box office disappointment Kabul Express [Images], grossed about $460,000 in three days in North America in 60 theatres and about $250,00 in the United Kingdom in 30 theatres.

New York's North American and the UK grosses looks small compared to that of Yash Raj's big hit Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. But that of course starred Shah Rukh Khan [Images], and was directed by Aditya Chopra [Images].

Service will be held between 10am and noon. To the funeral will also attend family and friends who will be seated on the front row. Details on the Michael Jackson burial are also clear now, his body will be buried at the Forest Lawn cemetery on Hollywood Hills.

A spokesman of the family said to clear up rumours:

“Contrary to previous news reports, the Jackson family is officially stating that there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland,”

(MYFOX NATIONAL) - 11,000 free tickets will be available for Michael Jackson's funeral event which will take place 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Fans will have to register for the tickets.

Jackson family's spokesman Ken Sunshine said that details on how fans can get tickets will to be announced Friday .

The Staples Center is a 20,000-seat arena. Television screens will be erected in the areas around the arena for those who cannot get inside. Jackson rehearsed at the center two days before he died last Thursday. Video footage of that rehearsal performance was released by AEG Live . He was scheduled to perform in London for 50 sold-out performances.

The LA Times reported that though some details are finalized on the memorial service, who will pay for the city resources needed to pull off this memorial is still uncertain.

Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zin said the service could draw 100,000 fans and officials are scrambling to figure out how to accommodate the crowds.

As the judges deliberate, Kelly Clarkson performs her new single. I like the performance, but I would have preferred a different song choice, perhaps because my local radio station plays the song every five minutes.

The judges decide that Karla will be going home. She gets a beautiful montage and hugs and kisses from everyone before she says goodbye.

Poor Phillip looks so nervous as Nigel tells him he is staying another week. I seriously thought he was going to be sick. Vitolio finds out he will be going home, which allows Kupono to dance for another week. He also gets montages, hugs and kisses as he bids the show farewell.

Karl Malden, an Oscar- and Emmy-winning actor and former president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, died of natural causes today in Los Angeles at the age of 97. His long life and successful career were virtually free of scandal or controversy, and as an actor he was by all accounts a consummate professional. He and his wife, Mona, who survives him, were married for 70 years, which might literally be a show-business record.

Malden was born Mladen George Sekulovich in Chicago, the son of a Serbian father and Czech mother. He changed his name for obvious reasons when he went into acting (after working alongside his father in the steel mills), but often found a way for someone to mention the name "Sekulovich" in his films, as a tribute to his roots. He appeared in 21 Broadway productions between 1937 and 1957, including the premiere of A Streetcar Named Desire in 1947. He and several other cast members from the show, including Marlon Brando, reprised their roles for the 1951 film version, and Malden won an Oscar for best supporting actor. He was later nominated for On the Waterfront, in which he also appeared with Brando. Overall, he appeared in some 50 films, 19 in the 1960s alone.

In the 1970s, he earned four Emmy nominations as the star of The Streets of San Francisco, where he played an experienced cop working with rookie Michael Douglas. Malden also appeared in American Express TV commercials throughout the '70s ("Don't leave home without it"), an oft-parodied but long-remembered campaign that worked because of his familiar, trustworthy face. His bulbous nose, perhaps the most recognizable thing about him, was the result of sports injuries in his youth, and Malden joked about it frequently. He later won an Emmy for his work in the 1984 miniseries Fatal Vision.
Someone who dies at 97 after a happy life and dignified career doesn't get as much media coverage as someone who dies at a younger age under more unusual circumstances ... and that would probably be just fine with Malden. At his 70th anniversary celebration in December, he told longtime friend Eva Marie Saint that after he died, he didn't want her to do anything but have a party. "So another party is coming up," Saint told the Associated Press today.

Malden hadn't acted in a while, and his greatest successes were decades ago. But A Streetcar Named Desire remains a classic film, largely because of Brando's iconic performance but also because of Malden's work opposite him, balancing him. Brando's Stanley Kowalski was handsome but savage; Malden's Mitch was plain-faced but gentle, a necessary contrast that makes the film (and the play before it) work so beautifully.

Shiney in trouble: DNA test confirms sexual act:
The DNA report of actor Shiney Ahuja makes the rape case against him stronger after his DNA matched with the samples taken from the alleged victim’s private parts.

The Forensic Science Laboratory at Kalina has sent the report to Oshiwara police. According to ACP Amitabh Gupta, the DNA reports “are in favour of the FIR (First Information Report) filed by the victim”.

In the forensic investigation, Shiney’s DNA was compared with DNA strands found from the victim’s private parts. Since the two matched, it can be convincingly deduced that Shiney had sex with his maid, whether it was consensual or rape is yet to be proved in court.


Shiney Ahuja has been accused of raping his domestic help on June 14 at his Oshiwara residence. His wife and kid were out of town at that time. He was arrested on June 15 after the maid filed a police complaint alleging Shiney of raping her. The actor is presently in judicial custody till July 2 when his case will come up for hearing again.

Shiney’s wife Anupam has come strongly in defense of her husband. She’s even gone on to allege that it was Shiney who was perhaps raped by the maid.

We knew that John Edwards brought Rielle Hunter into his campaign as a film maker but it turns out that she made a a film that was previously kept secret. An upcoming book by Andrew Young, an aide to John Edwards, includes information on a sex tape made by Edwards and Rielle Hunter:

Former Edwards aide Andrew Young says the ex-senator and his former mistress, Rielle Hunter, once made a sex tape, according to someone who has seen Young’s book proposal.

St. Martin’s Press just inked a deal with Young, who also says in his proposal that, contrary to his public statement last year, he is not the father of Hunter’s infant daughter — Edwards is. Edwards has denied that.

Young says that his belief in Edwards ran so deep that he agreed to take the fall for the candidate, inviting the pregnant Hunter to live with him, his wife, Cheri, and their three children. Later, after Hunter delivered the baby, Young and his family moved to a different home in California.

While he was unpacking, Young discovered a videocassette, according to the book pitch. Hunter had been hired by the Edwards campaign to videotape the candidate’s movements, but this one is said to have shown him taking positions that weren’t on his official platform.

The purported sex tape confirmed to Hunter that Edwards was even more reckless than he thought.

According to our source, Hunter confided to Young that she and Edwards talked about getting married should the candidate’s cancer-stricken wife, Elizabeth, pass away, even discussing what music they’d play at their wedding.
