Jon and Kate plus 8 ended a three year run last night in the series finale. The show is over, unless perhaps Jon and Kate come to some kind of understanding about any possibility of reality TV shows in the future.
The Jon and Kate marriage is also over, and couldn’t survive the reality TV show itself. Their public divorce sent fans into a two way split deciding who they would side with. Jon began to see other women, and Kate stayed home with the kids. Their daily arguments made national news headlines over the past year.
In the season finale, Jon and Kate Gosselin were interviewed separately and spoke about their lives, the past and the present, and what they think might happen in the future.
Kate called the ending of the show "bittersweet," but also added that it could have been "totally avoidable."
Kate, 34 also spoke about Jon’s affairs with women. "[The kids] don't know about the girlfriends at all," Kate said. "That's just too warped for them, too unhealthy for them to know. They're learning at this age by watching us what it's like to be an adult, but that's the last thing I want them to know."
Kate was on the verge of tears several times during the interview when she spoke about the failed marriage. "I never had a clear picture of how it would end. It's too soon," Kate said.
Jon, 32 it seems has moved on emotionally and is ready to get on with the rest of his life. He seems to have adjusted a little quicker than Kate has to what has happened.
"It's unfortunate that our marriage failed, but our family shouldn't fail. We're gonna have to strive to be the best parents we can whether we're married or not," Jon said. "We're definitely not gonna be married again."
Because he married so young (at 22), he said that recognized that he possibly was “reverting to 23”.
"I'm moving forward, I know what I have to do. To become friends with Kate. To continue my relationship with Hailey [Glassman]," Jon said.
