Where Is Neverland Ranch – Neverland Ranch Address

Posted by DAREDEVIL

There’s news going around that Michael Jackson’s body will be taken to his Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara county on Thursday July 2nd, for a public viewing being held on Friday morning, and that a private Michael Jackson memorial service will be held on Sunday July 5th.

Although there are rumors that Michael Jackson’s body will be laid to rest at Neverland, there is no actual concrete proof or official confirmation.

In an effort to appease the Santa Barbara community in which Neverland Ranch is located, Thomas J. Barrack Jr., who heads Colony Capital, the firm that currently owns Neverland, sent a letter to the residents that basically said Michael Jackson is dead, people are coming, you may not like it, but you’re gonna have to deal with it. Except he used fancier words.

Neverland Owner’s Letter to Santa Barbara Community – Curbed LA

If you’re interested in going to the Michael Jackson public viewing, the Neverland Ranch address is:

5225 Figueroa Mountain Rd
Los Olivos, CA 93441

Although not all people in Neverland cease to age, its best known resident famously refused to grow up, and it is often used as a metaphor for eternal childhood (and childishness), immortality, and escapism. source

Father: Xavier Henry still considering playing at Kentucky

Posted by DAREDEVIL

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Xavier Henry, an incoming college freshman committed to play basketball at Kansas, still is considering playing for the University of Kentucky, his father told a Kansas City radio station today.
In a taped interview that aired on Tuesday's Chris and Cowboy show on 610-AM in Kansas City, Carl Henry said that his son — a top 30 recruit from Oklahoma City who originally signed with John Calipari at Memphis — wanted to follow Calipari to UK before ultimately committing to the Jayhawks.

Because he signed and was released from a national letter of intent at Memphis, Xavier Henry is prohibited from signing a second LOI. That leaves him free to attend another school. He has not enrolled in summer school at Kansas.

Xavier Henry hoped to play for Calipari at Kentucky, Carl Henry said, but chose to commit to Kansas because his mother, Barbara — who is divorced from Carl Henry — wanted to live near her son in college and did not want to move to Lexington.

"If it wasn't for his momma saying that 'I would not go to Kentucky, I would not move down to Kentucky,' Xavier would have been at Kentucky,'" Carl Henry said during the radio interview. "He would have been at Kentucky. So Xavier says, 'I'm going to go to Kansas.' Even though that's what he wanted to do is go to Kentucky, play under Coach Cal. That's what he wanted to do. I expressed this to (Kansas) coach (Bill) Self. I told him."

Now, Carl Henry said, Barbara Henry does not want to be a deciding factor in Xavier's college decision.

"So guess what? Kid might have a change of mind," Carl Henry said. "That's what I tell coach Self. If he has a change of mind, so what? So be it. He has a change of mind."

Xavier's older brother C.J., a former player in the New York Yankees' minor league system, enrolled at Memphis last year to play basketball. He sat out the season due to injury, then announced his intent to transfer to Kansas along with Xavier.

Carl Henry said he wasn't sure if C.J. also was still considering UK.

Carl Henry said that he's wavering in his commitment to Kansas in part because he's friends with UK signees John Wall and Daniel Orton, who have continued to campaign for him to join the Wildcats' top-ranked recruiting class.

Calipari has not talked to Xavier, Carl Henry said.

Carl Henry said that Xavier told him "a couple weeks ago" that he was interested in UK. Carl Henry said he made a call to Calipari at that time.

"When my son told me that, I reached out one time," Carl Henry said. "I called Coach Cal to see if he had a scholarship."

UK has 12 scholarship players for the 2009-10 season. The NCAA allows 13 scholarships for men's basketball

Sources backstage Sunday night at the BET Awards tell me even Janet Jackson -- and other Jackson family members -- were "really horrified" when they learned Michael Jackson's father, Joe Jackson, started plugging his new Ranch Records label as he walked the red carpet at the show, which was totally reworked to honor Michael's memory and legacy

CNN anchor and former WMAQ-Channel 5 anchor Don Lemon was practically speechless -- and quickly changed the subject back to thoughts of the King of Pop -- after Joe's blatant boost of his new Ranch Records label. "We've got Blu-ray technology," boasted Papa Jackson, who seemed more interested in introducing his business partner to Lemon than talking about his son's unparalleled career.

• • Catching up with a top BET insider backstage, I was told, "You know, it probably shouldn't come as a big surprise. Well, that's just Joe. He cares about Michael for what he can do for him -- dead or alive."

• • As Katherine Jackson, as expected, filed for and received temporary guardianship over her grandchildren Monday, two reliable Jackson family sources told me they don't expect Debbie Rowe, the biological mother of Michael Jackson's two oldest children, will initiate any kind of big legal battle to win custody.

Reportedly, there already have been quiet conversations between Rowe's camp and the Jackson family -- basically boiling down to her continuing to observe her non-involvement with the children, per the original agreement with Michael when they divorced.

"Debbie's made it pretty clear that mothering isn't her thing anyway, and besides -- you can bet she will be further compensated not to do anything," said a longtime Jackson family friend.

• • However, both my sources say there could be some kind of interference from Grace Rwaramba, the children's former nanny, who has been quoted in the British press about regularly pumping out Michael's stomach, claiming he had taken too many prescription drugs. That's an allegation the Jackson family has firmly denied. While there is evidence Michael had talked about Grace getting custody of the kids (or perhaps sharing it with his mother), I'm told several members of the Jackson family have said they never liked Grace, nor trusted her even when she was still the nanny.

• • Fans of Michael Jackson need to be vigilant -- especially if they're tempted to buy a piece of memorabilia being sold as a limited edition, or something signed by the music icon or touted as some other kind of collectible.

Steve Bernas, CEO of the Better Business Bureau serving this area, warns, "Great care should be taken by anyone who wants to buy Michael Jackson memorabilia at this time. There are many unscrupulous people out there betting that emotion will trump sensible buying to make money from people's sorrow at a time like this."

STAR STRUCK: Somewhat lost in the shuffle of announcements about all the changes for next year's Oscars -- including upping the best picture nominations to 10 and altering the voting on best song -- was the news the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian and Irving Thalberg awards, plus honorary Oscars will now be announced in the fall and awarded at a November dinner in L.A. -- rather than included in the annual ceremony next March. ... Kudos to the late Gene Siskel's nephew, Charlie Siskel, tapped to be executive producer of two new projects -- one at Comedy Central, the other for Showtime.

Siskel previously was a producer on "Bowling for Columbine," and executive produced Bill Maher's "Religulous" documentary about organized religion.

SEEN ON THE SCENE: No question about it, the new downtown, hipper-than-hip hotel the Wit has become an immediate celeb magnet. Just in the past week, Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Jakob Dylan, Sister Hazel, Antoine Walker and Reggie Bush were among the famous faces spotted at the Wit's Roof -- the amazing partially open-air rooftop lounge that is the new fave place for the see-and-be-seen crowd. ... Harold Ramis (who also has checked out the Wit's Roof) slipped into Rockit Bar & Grill the other day. ... Sox broadcaster Steve Stone and Linda Yu were spied dining (separately) at Hub 51.

Report: Michael Jackson's Kids Not His?

Posted by DAREDEVIL

A central question regarding Michael Jackson's final affairs is the matter of what will happen to his three children, Michael Jackson, Jr. (also known as Prince Michael I), Paris Katherine Michael Jackson and Prince Michael II (often called Blanket). And now there are two more twists in this already sad story: TMZ reports that not only is Michael Jackson not the biological father of any of his kids, he also never formally adopted them.

The report indicates that Michael and then-wife Debbie Rowe used a surrogate and donor sperm to conceive Michael Jr. and Paris, and that Michael used a surrogate who never knew she was carrying a child for him when she had Prince Michael II.

Muddying the custody issue even more is the report that MJ never filed legal papers to adopt his children, apparently because at the time there was no third party who would be interested in taking custody.

TMZ cites legal experts who say Michael would be presumed the father but it's not a sure thing.

Right now MJ's mother Katherine Jackson has custody of all three children, and hopefully for their sake, a resolution will be reached soon.

'America's Got Talent': Thea Megia and Kevin Skinner are amazing

Posted by DAREDEVIL

Welcome back to "America's Got Talent." Thea Megia and Kevin Skinner just absolutely kill it tonight.

We kick things off tonight in NYC with 62 year-old Carol Lugo, a grocery cashier from New Jersey who dances. Could this be our Susan Boyle? As she starts weirdly gyrating to "I Can't Help Myself," I am alternately horrified and completely delighted. The woman moonwalks! She is strangely charming. The judges just adore her and send her through unanimously as the strains of "Flashdance" come up in the background.

Good Montage. YoYo Joe dances with a yoyo (it's no "Air on a G String" but it's pretty awesome); The Diva League, dancers and drag queens (better than the can-can-stripping moms from last year); and Coney Island Chris the glass eater (a terrifying Jerry Lewis).

To the strains of "Magic Man" (love that song), we meet Jay Mattioli the Magician. He does all these really wicked tricks with a satin blanket and the mic stand, then transitions smoothly into his box illusion, where he climbs inside a small box and then appears to squish himself flat and then emerges from the box. It's quite good, I'd love to see him do more stuff, plus a magician (like Terry Fator the Ventriloquist) can sustain a Vegas show (unlike Cry Baby Boyd). The judges love him.

What is this? We've only seen good stuff tonight. Crazy.

I have spoken too soon when the Honorable Judge Franklin Sane takes the stage. He "croons" the great Petulia Clark classic "Downtown." I'm sure Franklin sounds really great in his shower and thinks he's an undiscovered Frank Sinatra... but he is not. Big no. Next!

Speaking of bad singers, we now have the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of that with 14 year-old Thea Megia (is that like Julia Gulia?). She sings "I am Changing" by Jennifer Holliday and it is FABULOUS. She sounds like a whiskey-drinking soulful 40s singer. She should be lounging across a piano in a slinky red dress. It's not perfect; she needs to work on a couple pronunciations and her stage presence, but the voice is amazing. She's through unanimously.

Jeffrey Johns is up next. He's a 5'3'' Carrot Top lookalike, so that's two strikes against him. His talent is singing some weird song while standing on an Edith Ann chair. His song is all "smaller isn't necessarily the lesser" and whatnot, but it makes me want to sing in response, "Short people got no reason... short people got no reason... short people got no reason to live." It's three nays from the judges.

Bad Montage. Witches in Bikinis, a coven of Baywatch Girls, apparently; Robert Myers, an impersonator who can put his outfits or wigs on correctly; and Samba Samba Samba, a bunch of chunky monkey showgirls.

Next up is the Fab Five, a group of sisters from Utah ranging in age from 23 to 35. They also have four more sisters and seven brothers because their parents really, really want to get to Heaven. The Fab Five are Irish dancers and I'll admit, they are quite good, though the screaming and the facial expressions are going to give me nightmares tonight. They're like cheerleaders on cocaine. Hasselhoff jokes about everybody from Utah having the same smile. It's because their magic underwear is so tight.

Kevin Skinner is our last auditoner of the day. He's a chicken catcher from Kentucky. The judges and audience all laugh at his country bumpkin ways, but he performs "If Tomorrow Never Comes" by Garth Brooks and it's really lovely. There are a couple bum notes; it's not perfect. But it's very nice. When Kevin is done, my boyfriend remarks, "That's what Wes [from The Bachelorette] wishes he was." Piers says "There's a moment every season where someone comes on stage dressed like you are and then he starts to sing and within about 20 seconds you have me. One of the most emotional, powerful performances I've seen in a long time."

What an excellent show tonight, almost all of the acts were just excellent. Kevin Skinner actually made me cry a little. I cannot wait to see what he, Thea and Jay Mattioli do in the next round.

Chuck Klosterman's guide to sucky things that are actually great

Posted by DAREDEVIL

The “thing you think sucks is actually great” essay is popular among pop-culture writers, and nobody writes ’em better than Chuck Klosterman, who appears tonight at Boswell Book Company. The former Spin writer defended the sleazy ’80s glam metal he grew up on in his first book, Fargo Rock City: A Heavy Metal Odyssey In Rural North Dakota, but it wasn’t until his sophomore effort, Sex, Drugs, And Cocoa Puffs: A Low Culture Manifesto, that his trash-loving contrarianism reached critical mass. Klosterman has since made a career out of defending the indefensible—Pamela Anderson, '80s Kiss albums, even Saved By The Bell. The beauty of Klosterman’s writing is that you can think he’s full of it and still enjoy reading his hyper-analytical theories about cultural detritus. But do the arguments that Klosterman spews so entertainingly hold any water? Decider takes a closer look.

Mötley Crüe
You might think: These cock-swinging bad boys personify the excess, silliness, and plain ol’ dirty ass skankiness of the ’80s glam-metal scene.
Klosterman begs to differ: “It will be interesting to see how Mötley Crüe is eventually categorized by rock historians; I sometimes wonder if they’ll end up being the ’80s version of Nazareth or Foghat. They honestly deserve better. When you place heavy metal in a cultural context, Too Fast For Love is the kind of album that kind-of-sort-of matters. Whenever you forget what made glam metal so ridiculously popular, listen to this record. This is what happened when four Hollywood hobos got it right.” (Fargo Rock City)
Who’s right? Too Fast For Love really is kind-of-sort-of good. But the best thing the band ever did is the tell-all autobiography, The Dirt: Confessions Of The World’s Most Notorious Rock Band, which is one of the all-time greatest rock books. “Live Wire” is a decent strip club anthem, but it can’t beat lurid tales about banging groupies named Bullwinkle and doing mounds of blow with David Lee Roth.

Poison
You might think: If Mötley Crüe is shit, then Poison is dog shit.
Klosterman begs to differ: “We in the Midwest first heard them in the spring of 1987 on AOR stations like Fargo’s Q-98; the song was “Talk Dirty To Me,” which—if my memory serves me correctly—was the greatest song anyone had ever recorded up to that point in history.” (Fargo Rock City)
Who’s right? While Mötley Crüe has achieved a measure of revisionist respect, Poison likely squandered its chance for some late-period critical props when singer Bret Michaels started looking for true love in hot tubs stocked with surgically enhanced ho-bags on VH1.

Billy Joel
You might think: The Piano Man is the epitome of baby boomer cheese, and he hasn’t had a hit since the last time he got behind the wheel and ran into a tree.
Klosterman begs to differ: “He has no intrinsic coolness, and he has no extrinsic coolness. If cool were a color, it would be black—and Billy Joel would be sort of a burnt orange. Yet Billy Joel is great. And he’s not great because he’s uncool, nor is he great because he 'doesn’t worry about being cool' (because I think he kind of does). No, he’s great in the same way your dead grandfather is great. Because unlike 99 percent of pop artists, there is absolutely no relationship between Joel’s greatness and Joel’s coolness (or lack thereof), just as there’s no relationship between the 'greatness' of serving in World War II and the 'coolness' of serving in World War II.” (Sex, Drugs, And Cocoa Puffs)
Who’s right? Klosterman seems to base a lot of his Billy Joel fandom on 1982’s The Nylon Curtain, which contains a lot of low-grade schlock, including the bombastic Vietnam song “Goodnight Saigon” and the synth-driven “Pressure” (perhaps better known as “Pres-shah!”). But Joel’s 1977 masterwork, The Stranger, definitely makes us crazy for burnt orange.

Contemporary country music
You might think: Listening to your genitals being smashed into oblivion with a broken beer bottle is preferable to hearing the latest Toby Keith track.
Klosterman begs to differ: “What I’m saying is that lyrics do matter, and people who say they’re overemphasized by critics are wrong. The significance of lyrics in pop music is not overrated; in fact, it’s probably underrated. And this is what people overlook about modern country music. They fail to see that it’s a word-based idiom, and words are far more effective than pianos or guitars. The manipulation of sonics makes someone like Moby a genius, but he’ll never have the middle-class importance of someone like Toby Keith.” (Sex, Drugs, And Cocoa Puffs)
Who’s right? We actually kind of like Toby Keith, but only because we love America and putting boots up the asses of terrorists.

Vanilla Sky
You might think: This hokey Tom Cruise vehicle gives pot-fueled pretentiousness a bad name.
Klosterman begs to differ: “Vanilla Sky was one of the more worthwhile movies I’ve seen in the past 10 years … 'What is reality?' It’s insane of [reviewer Owen] Gleiberman to suggest that posing this query could somehow be a justification for hating Vanilla Sky. It might be the only valid reason for loving it.” (Sex, Drugs, And Cocoa Puffs)
Who’s right? Any movie where Cameron Diaz exclaims “I swallowed your cum—that means something!” can’t be all bad.

[23 miles off the coast of Gaza, 15:30pm] - Today Israeli Occupation
Forces attacked and boarded the Free Gaza Movement boat, the SPIRIT OF
HUMANITY, abducting 21 human rights workers from 11 countries,
including Noble laureate Mairead Maguire and former U.S. Congresswoman
Cynthia McKinney (see below for a complete list of passengers). The
passengers and crew are being forcibly dragged toward Israel.

“This is an outrageous violation of international law against us. Our
boat was not in Israeli waters, and we were on a human rights mission
to the Gaza Strip,” said Cynthia McKinney, a former U.S. Congresswoman
and presidential candidate. “President Obama just told Israel to let
in humanitarian and reconstruction supplies, and that’s exactly what
we tried to do. We’re asking the international community to demand our
release so we can resume our journey.”

According to an International Committee of the Red Cross report
released yesterday, the Palestinians living in Gaza are “trapped in
despair.” Thousands of Gazans whose homes were destroyed earlier
during Israel’s December/January massacre are still without shelter
despite pledges of almost $4.5 billion in aid, because Israel refuses
to allow cement and other building material into the Gaza Strip. The
report also notes that hospitals are struggling to meet the needs of
their patients due to Israel’s disruption of medical supplies.

“The aid we were carrying is a symbol of hope for the people of Gaza,
hope that the sea route would open for them, and they would be able to
transport their own materials to begin to reconstruct the schools,
hospitals and thousands of homes destroyed during the onslaught of
“Cast Lead”. Our mission is a gesture to the people of Gaza that we
stand by them and that they are not alone” said fellow passenger
Mairead Maguire, winner of a Noble Peace Prize for her work in
Northern Ireland.

Just before being kidnapped by Israel, Huwaida Arraf, Free Gaza
Movement chairperson and delegation co-coordinator on this voyage,
stated that: “No one could possibly believe that our small boat
constitutes any sort of threat to Israel. We carry medical and
reconstruction supplies, and children’s toys. Our passengers include a
Nobel peace prize laureate and a former U.S. congressperson. Our boat
was searched and received a security clearance by Cypriot Port
Authorities before we departed, and at no time did we ever approach
Israeli waters.”

Arraf continued, “Israel’s deliberate and premeditated attack on our
unarmed boat is a clear violation of international law and we demand
our immediate and unconditional release.”

Reports: Curry out as Pistons coach

Posted by DAREDEVIL

MLive.com in Michigan and ESPN are reporting that Michael Curry has been fired as coach of the Detroit Pistons, lasting only one season as Flip Saunders' replacement.

"This was a difficult decision to make," Pistons president Joe Dumars said. "I want to thank Michael for his hard work and dedication to the organization. However, at this time, I have decided to make a change."

Speculation about why Curry was dismissed figures to center on the coach's strained relationship with Rip Hamilton. The two reportedly haven't been on speaking terms.

Detroit was 39-43 this season under Curry. In the 2007-08 season, the Pistons were 59-23 with Saunders.

Michael Jackson's body to return to Neverland: reports

Posted by DAREDEVIL

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Michael Jackson's body will be driven to his Neverland Valley Ranch in central California as early as Thursday with public viewing being set for later this week, according to media reports on Tuesday.
A motorcade of as many as 30 cars is expected to accompany Jackson's body to his ranch, which is located near the town of Los Olivos, north of Santa Barbara, according to reports by TV network CNN and celebrity website TMZ.com, citing police officials.

Entertainment news website E! News cited a Santa Barbara Sheriff's department spokesman as saying meetings were now taking place with the California Highway Patrol to discuss security for the trip from the Jackson family home in Los Angeles to Neverland Valley.

A spokesman for the Santa Barbara County's sheriff's office was not immediately available to comment, nor were representatives for Jackson's family.

Pop superstar Jackson, whose hits include "Thriller" and "Billie Jean" died suddenly of cardiac arrest last Thursday.

Jackson's birthplace of Gary, Indiana, also is planning a memorial service for the deceased singer on July 10, according to a spokeswoman for the Gary mayor's office.

Lalosa Burns, spokeswoman for Gary Mayor Rudy Clay, said the memorial service would take place at US Steel Works sports stadium, and that more details would follow. She did not have any information about the service being planned in California.

Jennifer Aniston Nude Photos Hit the Web

Posted by DAREDEVIL

Jennifer Aniston nude photos from the much anticipated scene from the 'Break Up' have splashed online despite legal threats from Jen's attorneys. At the time the movie was being filmed Jen said that she didn’t panic over the scene although she admits it was the one of the few times she ever watched the dailies. “Luckily I had been hitting the gym before that already,” said Aniston. “No, you don’t panic about your physical shape. You panic that you just need to be naked, period.”

And just for the record, it’s all Aniston in the film. She didn’t use a body double. “No, I definitely didn’t. The problem is because the way it was shot, it was so specifically me. They wanted to make it a tricky camera so you saw the face and then you go to the back. It was hard to cut, unless you did it. You don’t want to do a butt double really. That’s iffy.”

***

Now the photos are making the rounds on the Internet. The photos appear to be scanned from French magazine Choc. She looks absolutely fabulous in the film and even though the images are a bit blurry, she also looks great on the cover of the magazine.

Jossip had reported earlier that Lavely & Singer – the Los Angeles power law firm that plays guardian to folks like Colin Farrell – is getting in touch with publications who might be interested in publishing a "nude or partially nude" photo of Jennifer Aniston that was, supposedly, unlawfully appropriated from footage shot for The Break Up, co-starring real-life fictional romance Vince Vaughn.

The preemptive cease and desist goes on to say that should you be in possession of any of said photos, you must return them to NBC Universal.

Farrah Fawcett funeral set for Tuesday in L.A

Posted by DAREDEVIL

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A private funeral for actress Farrah Fawcett will be held at the Catholic cathedral of Los Angeles next Tuesday, church officials said on Friday.
The service for the former "Charlie's Angels" actress will take place at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels at 4 p.m. PDT (1900 EDT).

Fawcett, 62, died on Thursday after suffering a long and public battle with anal cancer.

Will Farrah Fawcett Memorial or Michael Jackson Funeral be on TV?

Posted by DAREDEVIL

Will the Farrah Fawcett memorial be televised? What about the Michael Jackson funeral? The funeral for Fawcett, a devout Catholic, will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. It is said to be a private affair. The Michael Jackson memorial may be very large and it has still yet to be determined exactly what will happen with the plans. With so many fans desperate to see Michael Jackson one last time it might be televised.

Jackson's father has revealed the family have not yet planned the pop star's funeral - but that they do want the public involved. In a bizarre press conference outside the Jackson family home in Los Angeles, Joe Jackson was accompanied by the Reverend Al Sharpton. The press conference was expected to be held to announce details of Jacko's funeral or memorial service.

But it began with Rev Sharpton defending Joe Jackson's appearance at the BET Awards just three days after his son passed away. Joe continued talking about his record company after Sharpton's introduction, rambling about Miraz Records before finally turning the talk to his famous son.

Al Franken declared winner of Minnesota Senate race, giving Democrats filibuster-proof majority

Posted by DAREDEVIL

Democrat Al Franken defeated Republican Norm Coleman in Minnesota’s U.S. Senate race and is entitled to the seat, the state Supreme Court ruled after an eight-month post-election battle.

Adding Franken, 58, to the Senate would give Democrats the 60 votes needed to overcome any Republican filibuster on legislation.

The seat has remained vacant since January.

Coleman conceded at a news conference in St. Paul. Previously, he had urged the justices to throw out a lower court decision that Franken, a former comedian on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” won the Nov. 4 election by 312 votes.

The Republican contended about 4,000 absentee ballots that were ruled invalid should be counted.

“Al Franken received the highest number of votes legally cast and is entitled” by law “to receive the certificate of election as United States senator from the state of Minnesota,” Minnesota’s highest court said in an unsigned opinion.

“Coleman introduced no evidence of foul play or misconduct” in one of his claims over missing ballots, the court said.

“We’re pleased,” said White House spokesman Robert Gibbs.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada congratulated Franken in a statement that urged Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a Republican, to certify the Democrat as the winner so he can be sworn in.

“He should put politics aside, follow his state’s laws and finally sign the certificate that will bring this episode to an end,” Reid said. Pawlenty earlier had rejected Franken’s request to be certified the winner during Coleman’s legal challenge.

Bandra-Worli Sea Link Pictures Are Breath-taking

Posted by DAREDEVIL

Yesterday, amidst great show and festivity, the Bandra- Worli sea link bridge in Mumbai, India, was unveiled to the world.

After a long drought period of 10 years of waiting, the bridge finally came in to function. On its opening night, it was surely an absolute view to behold, royal and majestic. On this eve of its inauguration, the bridge was made to be lit up in the colors of the Indian flag.

Yesterday, on June 29, UPA chairperson President Sonia Gandhi and Union Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar inaugurated the Bandra-Worli sea link bridge at the public inauguration ceremony held at 3:30 p.m at the Mhada ground near Rang Sharda.

This 5.6 km stretch of the bridge is going to work wonders for the choking traffic condition of the busy city Mumbai. It will cut down on the traffic congestion substantially by diverting a huge chunk of the vehicles. From Wednesday morning on, commuters will be able to access one half portion of the bridge while the other half will remain under construction for the coming year. The 750 crore connector will connect the island city with the western suburbs and will cut down on time drastically too. This will offer an useful alternative to the people hailing from that part of town as previously the only other option that they had was the Mahim causeway.

It is a toll free freeway, which the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) engineers said was mostly because politicians were planning to gain popularity by the move. Hindustan Construction Company chairman and managing director Ajit Gulabchand said that the connector is going to be the next big landmark in Mumbai after the Gateway Of India.

Michael Jackson 'died of a drug overdose', according to reports

Posted by DAREDEVIL

Michael Jackson died after a heart attack triggered from a cocktail of seven different prescription drugs according to that latest reports coming out of Los Angeles.

The pop superstar, 50, was pronounced dead at 2.36pm local time after falling into a deep coma at his home in Holmby Hills, California.

US celebrity magazine Life & Style says Jacko was hooked on prescription drugs.

A source told them that the star had been popping pills, including anti-anxiety drugs Xanax and Zoloft and painkiller Demerol, for weeks before his death and that an overdose had caused respiratory and cardiac arrest.

The Jackson family lawyer Brian Oxman had already alluded to the involvement of drugs in the singer's death when he likened the pop star's death to that of tragic star Anna Nicole Smith in an interview with CNN.
He also blamed the people who surrounded the star for his death.

He said: "I believe (his manager) Frank DiLeo was with him at the time (of his heart attack), that is what I have been told.

"This family has been trying for months and months and months to take care of Michael Jackson. The people who have surrounded him have been enabling him.

"If you think the case of Anna Nicole Smith was an abuse, that is nothing compared to what has taken place in the life of Michael Jackson.

"I do not know what medications he was taking, but the reports that we have received within the family are that they were extensive.

"I don't know the cause of all this. But this is something that I feared. This is a case of abuse of medications, unless the cause is something else.
"This was something which I feared and something which I warned about. Where there is smoke there is fire."

Jeff Goldblum is not dead.

Rumors hit the ‘net Thursday afternoon that New Zealand Police were reporting that actor Jeff Goldblum had fallen to his death on the set of a new movie. Thankfully, the report turned out to be a hoax.

Police National Head Quarters in New Zealand told 3 News they know nothing about the claims and have not had any reports of such an incident in Northland. They say similar rumors were circulating six to eight weeks ago and believe it’s false information.

The New Zealand Film Commission has also told 3 News that they are unaware of Jeff Goldblum currently filming anything in the country

'So You Think You Can Dance' sends the right ones home

Posted by DAREDEVIL

This is the first time this season on "So You Think You Can Dance" that I agree with both the Bottom Three and those eliminated. It's a Festivus miracle!

The Group Number is a Latin/Hip Hop hybrid to "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" by Pitbull. Dmitry Chaplin and Tabitha & Napoleon choreographed it and did a fantastic job. I dug the whole vibe and I think everyone did a great job - the ladies dancing on the tables was a nice touch.

Oh Cat Deeley...is that a pantsuit? Strangely, it looks good on her. And her entrance was fantabulous. Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, and Toni Basil return for judging.

Before getting to the business of the show, Nigel says some kind words about Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson who all passed away in the last two days. They show a piece of "Thriller" before going to break. Not get to too much into it, these three people had a great impact on my childhood in different but equal ways. They we all be missed and my heart goes out to their loved ones.

Ok, so on with the results. There are five couples on stage - that might be a record. Asuka & Vitolio are the first in the Bottom Three. The rest of the contestants are all safe - in order: Janette & Brandon, Randi & Evan, Jeanine & Phillip, and Melissa & Ade.

The last three couples are onstage. Karla & Jonathan are in the bottom, and deservedly so because they were easily the worst last night. Caitlin & Jason must wait for Kayla & Kupono's recap before both find out the results. Caitlin & Jason round out the Bottom Three which I agree with. I thought Kayla & Kupono were really good last night. Was their number easier? No.

This week's special dance guest is a group called the Rage Boys Crew choreographed by Tiffany Burton. It's a big group of boys from I'd say 7-16 years old doing Hip Hop with a bunch of stunts and flips. There's a whole lot of hair on that stage. It was fun.

1. Asuka
Song: "Don't Trust Me" by 3Oh!3
I like her outfit. I'm a sucker for shimmy dresses. She worked the stage well and her legs are always great. I don't know if this was an improvement from her Week 1 solo but it wasn't worse than that.

2. Vitolio
Song: "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay
There was a diverse range of movements, though I don't know if they matched the music so much. It could be just that I don't care for the song. I would love to see Vitolio doing something to a drum heavy or spoken word piece. I think he could do something really interesting to it.

3. Karla
Song: "15 Step" by Radiohead
A great song choice. Why couldn't Vitolio have danced to something like this? She probably did enough to stick around. Probably. The choreography was solid.

4. Jonathan
Song: "The Hunted" by Kodd
This was a lot better than the Week 1 solo. Oy, was that awful. I think he did that Ricky Martin shoulder shimmy again which I find hard to condone if you're not Ricky Martin. It was good but I don't know if it was good enough to overcome last night's crash and burn.

5. Caitlin
Song: "Que Sera Sera" by Jennifer Terran
This was my favorite solo tonight. She was really, really great. Her movements had great flow and she was living in the moment. Very pretty.

6. Jason
Song: "New American Classic" by Taking Back Sunday
Jason and Vitolio have a similar flow of movements, though an opposite quality. Jason is smooth while Vitolio is staccato. His solo was pretty good, though I think I like his other one better. It's probably enough to keep him in though.

While the judges go off to make their decision, The Veronicas perform and the blonde one is particularly shrill during the chorus. Their outfits are very "Saloon Girl." They're singing with a track, though the band is "playing" behind them and there's a few dancers. I don't know if I'm picking up what they're putting down. Synth-Pop rarely appeals to me.

The judges are unanimous with their decision regarding the girls. Caitlin is safe, Nigel saying she had the best solo tonight. They found Karla a little desperate and off-balance. Nigel called Asuka an exciting performer but they felt she wasn't growing so it's time for her to go home.

The judges were not unanimous regarding the guys. Nigel says Vitolio always preps big but doesn't always deliver big movements. Nigel doesn't believe Jonathan has brought what's needed to be America's favorite dancer. Like Karla, the judges felt Jason looked a bit desperate. If he were against "better boys," he'd have been sent home. But he's safe. Vitolio has also been saved, thus eliminating Jonathan. Wolfpack has gone, long live Wolfpack.

I can't say I'm particularly surprised at either the Bottom Three or who went home. In fact, I totally agree. Do you? How'd you like the group number? Any other thoughts?

Michael Jackson’s death brings conspiracy theory back into spotlight

Posted by DAREDEVIL

Michael Jackson Conspiracy was a book written in 2007. This article is about the book Michael Jackson Conspiracy and a review of the book. The book was a look into the conspiracies around Michael Jackson’s life and dove into criminal allegations and depicts Jackson as a calculative and devisive person who used his money to get away with his wrong doings. It was written by Aphrodite Jones, a highly recognized authority on true crime. Jones has made more than one hundred television and radio appearances and has been quoted in articles that have appeared in the “Los Angeles Times”, “New York Post”, “Daily News”, “The Hollywood Reporter”, and “USA Today”. She is the author of the “New York Times” bestseller “Cruel Sacrifice”, and her account of the Brandon Teena story, “All She Wanted”, became an international bestseller and was transformed into the film “Boys Don’t Cry”.

About the book

He was the pop icon the media loved to hate. Tremendously wealthy, inarguably eccentric, and one of the most famous people in the world, Michael Jackson was the unenviable target of constant public humiliation. The media poked fun at his skin, his features, his sexuality, and his lifestyle. Here, seasoned crime reporter Aphrodite Jones condemns the media for perpetuating hateful rumors and innuendoes, recounting just the sordid details, and reporting only the most despicable accusations and grisly charges made against Michael Jackson during his criminal trial. They had built a highly profitable industry around the superstar’s “freaky life” and banked on his conviction. And, it turns out, they got it all wrong. In their efforts to make money and win ratings, the media missed the truth. It wasn’t until after the “not guilty” verdict that Jones had the insight and courage to admit her own unintentional role in the frenzy surrounding the shocking testimony, high drama, and countless celebrities in Michael Jackson’s high-profile criminal trial. Here, she makes amends with what is not only a truthful, well-documented chronicle of the entire trial but a powerful indictment against the media for conspiring to distort, dehumanize, and destroy Michael Jackson. Jones argues convincingly that the case against Jackson amounted to nothing more than a media-made, tax-paid scandal, and she makes an impassioned call to action for the public-at-large to think critically, question the integrity, and demand the truth in “the news”. Michael Jackson Conspiracy Review

When District Attorney Tom Sneddon smugly announced that Michael Jackson was to be criminally charged, and that Neverland was being raided, he was so blinded by greed, jealousy and vengeance that he could not see that the degenerate family he had sided with, the Arvizo family, in order to try and take Michael Jackson’s freedom from him, and ruin his reputation, all so that Sneddon could bask in glory, would actually bring Sneddon the ultimate humiliation. Sneddon’s case against Michael Jackson was built on lies, and was created by liars, and Sneddon got exactly what he deserved, failure!!!

When Michael Jackson was put on trial, accused of having molested Gavin Arvizo — who had learnt from his family how to extort people — the media refused to tell the truth. The media refused to acknowledge, or discuss, what was actually going on in the courtroom that was favorable to Michael Jackson. The testimony that pointed to Michael Jackson’s innocence, the success Michael Jackson’s attorneys had in exposing the prosecution case for what it was, sham, was ignored by the media, the media refused to tell the truth.

When prosecution witnesses who desired to fill their pockets with Michael Jackson’s money, who hoped to become rich by selling false stories, who falsely accused Michael Jackson, and who made up as many lies as possible, as horrible as possible, to extort as much money as possible from Michael Jackson, were exposed, it was ignored by the media, the media refused to tell the truth.

When the accuser, Gavin Arvizo, and his family, mother Janet Arvizo, and siblings Star Arvizo and Davellin Arvizo, stumbled over their lies, contradicted themselves continually, became argumentative when presented with facts that proved they were liars and extortionists, it was ignored by the media, the media refused to tell the truth.

When Michael Jackson’s young cousin testified that the accuser, Gavin Arvizo, and Gavin’s brother Star tried to get him to masturbate in their presence, it was ignored by the media, the media refused to tell the truth.

When it was revealed that Michael Jackson’s former employees only claimed to have seen inappropriate behavior by Michael Jackson AFTER THEY WERE OFFERED MONEY AND PAID BY TABLOIDS/THE MEDIA, it was ignored by the media, the media refused to tell the truth. (Michael Jackson successfully sued these former employees many years ago, they still owe him money.)

When Michael Jackson’s current employees testified that the accuser, Gavin Arvizo, and his family slept in guesthouses at Neverland (and not in Michael Jackson’s bedroom), that they caused a great deal of trouble at Neverland, left a huge mess at Neverland, damaged and defaced property at Neverland, attacked the animals at Neverland, pulled knives on Neverland employees, stole from Neverland employees, stole from Michael Jackson, extorted Neverland employees by lying about their financial circumstances, extorted the government by lying about their financial circumstances, extorted other celebrities by lying to them and falsely accusing them, caused trouble wherever they went, and to whoever was unlucky enough to befriend them, overall having been shown to be users, liars, thieves, troublemakers and criminals, it was ignored by the media, the media refused to tell the truth….. until now.

Aphrodite Jones, a reporter, ashamed of her behavior during Michael Jackson’s trial, having realized that she was wrong, has written this book – “Michael Jackson Conspiracy” – which is pretty much a compact version of Michael Jackson’s trial. It details exactly what happened in the courtroom at Michael Jackson’s trial (using actual trial testimony), the facts that were revealed and exposed, the witnesses and what they stated, how Michael Jackson’s defense team managed to successfully destroy prosecution theories and witnesses on a daily basis, how the media did not want to report anything that was favorable to Michael Jackson or his defense team, how some media reporters had already secured deals to have access to Michael Jackson if he was to be found guilty and imprisoned (which is disgusting, because this behavior implies that these jerks preferred that a child had been molested so that they could profit), and how Michael Jackson was found NOT GUILTY by a jury that saw right through the lies, right through the Arvizo family, right through District Attorney Tom Sneddon and his sham case, and right through the media garbage that has been circulating for years about Michael Jackson.

So, if you want the truth about Michael Jackson, how he has become a target for liars who want to become instant millionaires, and the victim of a media that promotes and prefers lies, read “Michael Jackson Conspiracy”.

What did Danielle try to do to Dina

Posted by DAREDEVIL

claiming that her bizarre behavior during filming was due to her emotionally damaged state of mind. When she explained herself, she really came across as genuine and logical and even pretty eloquent. Dina decided to accept her apology, and she felt that, in time, they could all move forward from the recent chaos.

After all of that, Caroline broke. She said that she’d never be able to forgive Danielle because “too much [had] gone down.” Andy seemed to sense something fishy and wanted to know what it was, exactly, that “went down.” As she honored Dina’s request to hold back, Caroline could only describe said incident as “disgraceful” and worthy of reducing Danielle to “garbage.”

The reason? Well, according to Dina, “[Danielle] approached someone to do something to [her].” It was something so terrible that the sheer thought of it turned Caroline into a blubbering mess on national television, tough balls and all.

Apparently, this mysterious atrocity was deliberated but never actually completed. And of course, Dina did not want to bring it up on TV, which only leaves viewers to speculate.

So what could it have been? Initially, one might assume that Danielle had attempted to put out a hit on Dina. Maybe she wanted to have her murdered or maybe just have her legs broken? Maybe Danielle or one of her cronies planned to seduce Dina’s husband? Maybe she was going to spread a nasty rumor through the tabloids? Maybe Danielle paid the colorist at Chateau to give Dina a bad dye job? It could be anything! Anything! What is it?! For the love of bubbies, we need to know!

So that was the cliffhanger! Will we ever know for sure what Danielle attempted to “have done” to Dina? Will Danielle ever know? Here’s to hoping it comes out on season two!

What do you think the big secret is?

Miami Heat acquires Patrick Beverley

Posted by DAREDEVIL

Former Marshall star originally went to Los Angeles Lakers in 2nd round of NBA draft

Patrick Beverley's circuitous basketball route may have reached its ultimate destination.

The Miami Heat acquired the former Marshall High star for a future second-round pick and cash considerations from the Los Angeles Lakers, who had picked him in the second round of the NBA draft with the 42nd overall selection.

Beverley, a 6-foot-1-inch guard, has traveled from Chicago to a brief, controversy-filled stint at the University of Arkansas and eventually to the Ukraine before he heard his name called Thursday night.

Beverley averaged 16.7 points per game on 48 percent shooting with BC Dnipro, according to eurobasket.com. He earned 2009 Eurocamp MVP in Treviso, Italy, earlier this month
It was obviously enough to earn his a shot in the NBA.

Beverley recently told the Tribune before the draft, "It definitely has been a long journey."

He did not immediately return a message Thursday night.

Out of Marshall, Beverley originally committed to Toledo before changing his mind and choosing Arkansas. He was the SEC freshman of the year but left the program in 2008 after handing in a fraudulent paper.

Meanwhile, the Big Ten did not add a lot of intrigue to the draft.

Only Ohio State's B.J. Mullens was selected in the first round. He was taken with the 24th overall pick by the Dallas Mavericks but his rights were traded to the Oklahoma City, who swapped their No. 25 pick of guard Rodrigue Beaubois with the Mavs.

The 7-foot-1-inch reserve center left the Buckeyes after one year despite averaging only 8.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Michigan State center Goran Suton was the second Big Ten player taken in the draft. The Utah Jazz made him the 50th overall pick.

As expected, the Big East produced some big picks.

They were: Connecticut center Hasheem Thabeet (Memphis, No. 2 overall); Syracuse point guard Jonny Flynn (Minnesota, No. 6), Louisville forward Terrence Williams (New Jersey, No. 11) and Louisville guardEarl Clark (Phoenix, No. 14). Dar Tucker, who left DePaul after his sophomore season, was not selected.

Christian eyenga

Posted by DAREDEVIL

When the Cavs drafted Christian Eyenga from the Congo with the 30th pick in the draft, it left me speechless. Eyenga isn’t even expected to play with the Cavs this season, as he is only 20 years old and was playing second division basketball in Europe. The only reason that makes sense is the Cavs didn’t think anyone left in the draft could help them — and wanted to save salary-cap space for veteran free agents.

Nonetheless, it seemed someone such as Pitt forwards Sam Young or DeJuan Blair could have helped, at least a little bit. Or maybe Xavier’s Derrick Brown. It just seemed like an odd choice.

While Shaquille O’Neal is probably the most important piece the Cavs will add this summer, they know they need another big man and at least one experienced wing player. Retaining Anderson Varejao will be a major off-season priority because the Cavs desperately need a young, mobile big man to help defend pick-and-rolls and bring energy off the bench. But they do need so much more.

Rasheed Wallace is a free agent, and the Cavs had interest in him before the O’Neal deal. Hard to know if they still do. They like Wallace as a big man who can shoot from the outside, but it’s hard to see how he’d help their defense on those pick-and-rolls. Also, LeBron James, O’Neal and Wallace in the same dressing room? That may be a bit much.

When it comes to free agents, keep an eye on Matt Barnes. The 6-7 veteran averaged 10.2 points and 5.5 rebounds for Phoenix, starting 40 out of 77 games. He shot 42 percent from the field, 34 percent on 3-pointers. He is a gifted athlete and might be able to help the Cavs with their perimeter defense, especially if the Cavs can’t sign free agent Anthony Parker — a player they have liked for years.

The problem with Barnes is he has spent the past three years in Golden State and Phoenix where defense is a rumor, so he’ll have to be reprogrammed a bit. Orlando had to do the same thing with Mickael Pietrus, who came from the Warriors and needed to develop a defensive mindset. By the end of the season, Pietrus was a major factor on defense. Barnes actually began his pro career with the Cavs as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA in 2003, but they cut him. It took Barnes a few years to establish himself in the NBA.

Parker has been mentioned several times in connection with the Cavs. General Manager Danny Ferry tried to sign him when he left Europe, but Parker signed with Toronto instead. He is now 33, and averaged 10.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and shot 42 percent from the field last season. My guess is the Cavs end up with either Barnes or Parker.

Part of the deal where the Cavs sent their second-rounder in 2010 to the Suns for O’Neal is the pick remains with the Cavs if it’s in the top 10. Then the Suns have to wait until 2011.

Lost in all the news about the O’Neal trade is Orlando will probably not have free agent Hedo Hedu Turkoglu back next season. The Magic traded Rafer Alston, Tony Battie and Courtney Lee to New Jersey for Vince Carter and forward Ryan Anderson. Clearly, Carter will take the place of Turkoglu. Does that make the Magic better? Probably not. Carter is 32. While he averaged 20 points, he has tormented the Cavs as Turkoglu did in the Eastern Conference finals.

When the Cavs faced Vince Carter in the 2007 Eastern Conference semifinals, he averaged 19.5 points, but shot only 36 percent. In the last two games of the series, he averaged only 11.5 points. Carter battled some minor injuries in that series, but he is not nearly as scary as Turkoglu in clutch time. Turkoglu averaged 17.2 points in the Cavs series, shooting 39 percent from the field and on 3-pointers. He hurt the Cavs with his ballhandling (6.7 assists), rebounding (6.3) and was a tough cover in pick-and-roll situations with Rashard Lewis. He’s 6-10 with point-guard skills, and the Magic will miss him.

Cleveland Cavaliers draft Christian Eyenga with first-round pick

Posted by DAREDEVIL

Mary Schmitt Boyer
Plain Dealer Reporter
Just 24 hours after acquiring one of the most famous players in the world, the Cavaliers drafted one hardly anybody knows.

After waiting through the first 29 picks, the Cavs took forward Christian Eyenga of the Congo with the 30th - and last - pick of the first round. The 6-5, 210-pound forward averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocked shots in 25 games with CB Prat Juventud in Spain. It's the same program that produced fifth-overall pick Ricky Rubio, but Eyenga played mostly on what amounts to the junior varsity.

With the 46th pick in the second round, the Cavs selected North Carolina forward Danny Green, who helped the Tar Heels win the 2009 NCAA title. Green, whose pregame dance routine ought to make him a perfect fit with the Cavs, averaged 13.1 points as a senior last year, when he became North Carolina's all-time leader in games played (145) and wins (123.)
The Cavs also purchased the Suns' second- round pick, No. 54 overall, 6-9 for ward Emir Preldzic, 21, who averaged 8.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists last season in Istanbul, Turkey.

But the first-round pick was the antithesis of the blockbuster trade General Manager Danny Ferry made Thursday, when he acquired 15-time All-Star center Shaquille O'Neal from the Phoenix Suns for Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic, a second-round pick next year and $500,000.

Speaking through an interpreter, the French-speaking Eyenga said he was shocked the Cavs drafted him, which was pretty much the reaction in the Cavs' press room. The move was surprising given that players the Cavs were thought to be interested in - like Pittsburgh forward Sam Young and St. Mary's guard Patty Mills - were still available. In addition, it was believed the Cavs had opportunities to move up in the draft.

In announcing the pick, NBA Commissioner David Stern seemed slightly amused and not quite sure how to pronounce Eyenga's name. Although Eyenga was in the stands in New York for the draft, he was the only first-round pick not invited to the green room to be interviewed, and the league didn't have a draftboard nameplate ready for him.

The selection sent reporters and public-relations people scrambling since the 20-year-old was not included in the predraft information the league provided. ESPN's international basketball expect Fran Fraschilla reported that Eyenga was a good athlete, but ESPN.com's Chad Ford predicted Eyenga would be drafted in the second round - or not at all. According to the Draft Express, Eyenga is a good athlete, a good shooter and a good defender who can block shots.

Ferry said his scouts were "ecstatic" at the chance to draft a player they believe has a "high ceiling."

"The possibility is definitely there for him to be a good NBA player," Ferry said, adding that he was unsure if Eyenga would come to the U.S. or stay in Spain this year.

As for Green, Duke grad Ferry admitted it was difficult for him to pick a North Carolina player. But said of Green: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^"He's a nice player. He really knows how to play."

Farrah Fawcett Dies at 62

Charlie's Angels actress Farrah Fawcett has died. She was 62.

The five-time Golden Globe-nominated star passed away on Thursday morning at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California. Her longtime partner Ryan O'Neal and best friend Alana Stewart were by her bedside when she passed away.

Her son Redmond, who is serving a jail sentence for drug charges, was not present.

Born Ferrah Leni Fawcett in Corpus Christi, Texas, the star started out as a model and actress in TV commercials, before getting her big break playing butt-kicking Jill Munroe in the hit TV series Charlie's Angels.

She quit the show after just one year and attempted to reinvent herself as a serious actress in movies like 1986's big-screen adaptation of Broadway play Extremities and 1984's TV film The Burning Bed. That role, as a battered wife, earned her the first of three Emmy Award nods in her career. She was also praised for her work in Small Sacrifices in 1989, garnering her both an Emmy and a Golden Globe nomination.

Fawcett later went on to make guest appearances on popular programs like Ally McBeal, Spin City and The Guardian.

She was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1995.

The actress was also a popular fashion icon and became a pinup in the 1970s and '80s, with her tousled hairstyle sparking an international trend.

But her career wasn't without controversy -- she was heavily criticized in 1995 when she agreed to pose nude for Playboy magazine at age 48, despite previously refusing to appear naked in any film or publication. The raunchy spread went on to become the best-selling issue of the 1990s, selling over 4 million copies worldwide, and Fawcett graced its pages again in 1997.

Her love life was rarely out of the limelight either. She wed The Six-Million-Dollar Man star Lee Majors in 1973, but the couple separated six years later, finalizing their divorce in 1982. That same year, she embarked on a romance with actor Ryan O'Neal. They went on to have a son, Redmond, in 1985, but split in 1997.

Fawcett also dated producer James Orr, but the relationship turned sour in 1998 when he physically abused her after she turned down his marriage proposal. The star has since reunited with O'Neal and enjoyed an on/off relationship.

Fawcett suffered a health setback in October 2006 when she revealed she had been diagnosed with anal cancer. She underwent treatment, including chemotherapy, and the disease appeared to be in remission by her 60th birthday in February 2007.

A statement released at the time read, "This is an extraordinarily happy day for me and my family. I hope that my news might offer some level of inspiration to others who unfortunately must continue to fight the disease."

However, the illness returned just three months later in May, when a malignant polyp was found in the area where she had been treated for anal cancer. She decided to travel to Germany to undergo revolutionary new treatment that has yet to be made available in the U.S.

Fawcett, who turned her battle with cancer into the documentary series A Wing and a Prayer, suffered another health setback in April this year when it emerged that the cancer had spread to her liver.

The extent of her illness was discovered during a stay in a Los Angeles hospital in early April as she underwent treatment for complications resulting from an undisclosed medical procedure. The surgery had left her with abdominal bleeding and a hematoma (internal sac of blood), but her doctor Lawrence Pinto insisted the operation was not directly linked to her cancer.

O'Neal recently revealed that he had proposed to Fawcett as she fought for her life and that she had accepted, but the couple never made it down the aisle.

It emerged on Wednesday that Fawcett was nearing the end of her cancer battle and had a Catholic priest read her her last rites as family and friends prepared for the worst.

She is survived by O'Neal and their son Redmond, now 24.

Confirmed: Michael Jackson Is Dead

Michael Jackson is reportedly in the hospital after suffering a heart attack.

The "Thriller" superstar's aides frantically called an ambulance to come to Jackson's Holmby Hills mansion in Los Angeles earlier today, according to TMZ.com.

Reports suggest the singer's condition was so bad, medics were forced to administer CPR en-route to a nearby hospital — to keep him alive.

Jackson's worried family members are allegedly rushing to his bedside.

Earlier this month, family insider Arthur Phoenix told WENN the superstar was in a bad way and should not be considering a 50-concert run in London, scheduled to start in July.

He insisted the concerts would not happen, stating, "Michael is not mentally, physically or spiritually ready for these shows. There's something missing in his soul... It's over! There are family members who feel the same way but they're afraid to speak."

Phoenix fears the pressure of the comeback and the upcoming shows have taken their toll on the 50 year old.
